It has one of London's most highly rated primary schools in the form of Yerbury Primary School, and enjoys access to high-quality local amenities as well as good transport links to more central areas. The area is home to many people who work in the media, including many journalists, writers and professionals working in film and television
Dartmouth Park is a quiet residential area with a mixture of residents, from young professionals and families through to retired couples. To the north lies the Holly Lodge Estate and then Highgate. La Sainte Union school, which is housed in a listed building facing Hampstead Heath, is also in the area. Dartmouth Park is separated from Kentish Town to the south by the Gospel Oak to Barking railway line.
Despite the name there is not now a park; although there is a small open space on the edge of the reservoir just across in Islington now named Dartmouth Park Hill Park. The former park on the area covered what is now Waterlow Park and Highgate Cemetery.
